Residentials

At Wellington Primary School, we believe that residential visits are an important part of our curriculum offer, helping children learn in a new environment, different from their own. Perhaps most importantly though, the memories our children make during their residential visits, they keep for life.

Previous residentials include the Year 5 two night residential visit at Nell Bank, Ilkley and the Year 6 two night residential visit at Buckden Hall, Yorkshire Dales.

Year 5 Nell Bank Residential 2025 Updates

Day 1: WOW! What a day! We arrived in Ilkley and went to the Riverside Park where we played on all the different pieces of the equipment. We then walked along the River Wharfe to Nell Bank where we started our four activities: the Nellbanian assault course, 'Shark infested custard' plank activity, Nellbanian 'skiing' and 'Save the Duck'. This was all finished off with a turn on the playground, followed by a delicious dinner and playing in the fields.
Day 2: Today has been another jam-packed day. We started by having breakfast and then getting all the equipment ready that we would need for our long, 7-mile walk. The weather was beautiful. We walked along the river and through Ilkley, learning all about the town's Roman past. We then started our climb up Ilkley Moor, enjoying some amazing views of the Wharfe valley. Half way on our long walk we enjoyed a delicious ice-cream next to the world famous Cow and Calf rocks. After arriving back at Nell Bank, we enjoyed a delicious evening meal followed by activities on the field. What a day!

Year 6 Buckden Residential 2025 Updates

Our Y6 children have arrived safely at BuckdenHouseOEC. They have made their beds and are about to start their first activity. Our Y6 children in school have had a busy morning creating their art work based on their text, The Arrival. #teamwellington
